Elementary Education Committee

Cicero is home to many new arrivals and first- and second-generation Latina/o families who face many unique challenges in finding academic success. The CCC's Elementary Education Committee supports the Parent Mentor Program, which trains Cicero parents to assist elementary school teachers with classroom instruction, including reading, writing, vocabulary, and math. Parent mentors share the same language, culture, and socio-economic status of the students and teachers they serve. The program also gives parents the tools they need to better support their child's education going forward, including understanding the curriculum, learning outcomes, and helping their children with homework and tests.
